Goals
Below are eight (8) guidelines for establishing realistic goals:
Define the Goal: Write down a goal with clarity and be as specific as you can. What is my goal?
Reasons to: Identify the reasons that you want to achieve this goal. What are my reasons for achieving this goal?
Time: Clarify the time frame to accomplish this goal? When do I want to have this goal completed?
Strategy: Plan to work and work the plan. What is the step by step process I plan to implement?
Obstacles: Know that there will be some resistance reaching the goal. What are some of the things, circumstances or relationships that may hinder this goal from being accomplished?
People: Understand that goals involve others. Who do I need to help me to reach this goal? What relationships will be effected positively or negatively in the process of reaching this goal?
Desired result: Begin with the end in mind. If I achieve this goal what do I hope to attain or receive from this accomplishment?
Action Steps: Realize that I must act. An action step has three components: 1) Personal - something I can do 2) Practical - something I will do 3) Provable - something that can be measured with a deadline. What must I do to accomplish my goals?
