4 Attitudes of Relationships
Uncategorized
There are 4 attitudes that are present in great marriages. They are:
- Service- Finding a need & meeting it is such an important component of successful relationships. Most marriages get in trouble because there is a desire to be served rather than to serve.
- Forgiveness- When there is a consideration of what has been forgiven by God it should come natural to forgive others. Forgiveness is cutting the cords that bring baggage from the past to the present.
- Honor- When there is a respect for self there will be a respect for others. It is hard to give away what is not possessed. Giving value & esteem to others comes from knowledge of personal worth.
- Trust- Where there is trust, there is vulnerability. Where there is vulnerability, there is intimacy. True intimacy comes from openness & honesty that builds confidence & security.
Questions to Ponder:
- To what extent am I serving my partner? What are three needs that my partner has right now? How am I meeting them?
- What am I struggling with when it comes to forgiveness of my partner but know I must let go of?
- How can I show greater respect & honor for my partner?
- What would it take to build unquestionable trust in the relationship that would lead to the deepest intimacy?
Scripture:
"I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God's mysterious plan, which is Christ himself."
-Colossians 2:2 (NLT)
