Not Too Late

There are certain stages in life when it is too late. You can’t order off the child’s menu at Olive Garden after age twelve, you can’t get student discount at the movies after you’ve graduated and you can’t play professional football as quarterback after age 40 (ask Brett Favre). As we begin the New Year there can be this ‘too late feeling’ in wishing we would have done something more in the previous year. There is no ‘too late stage’ in making a better relationship. A lot of relationships really struggle with changes that have to be made in order to make things better. Many couples that have been successful in marriage counseling have accomplished success because they chose to have an alternative attitude toward their partner and the relationship. If there is a difference in approach (positive attitude) there is a difference in destination (positive relationship). It is never too late think about things differently choosing a more expectant attitude.

Thought to Ponder:

How would I rate my attitude toward my partner on a scale of 1-10 (1-extremely negative, 10-extremely positive)?

How would I rate my attitude toward my marriage on a scale of 1-10 (1-extremely negative, 10-extremely positive)?

Scripture: (Philippians 4:8...)I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. (The Message)
